Kings Bromley WI

The WI do not hold a meeting during the month of August; however that’s not to say we haven’t been busy.

The village show stall was looking splendid with the array of homemade cakes, chutneys and jams, all donated by our members and friends. The show stall is our main fundraiser, making £390 towards the cost of speakers and events for the coming year. The WI held a raffle on show day and these are the winning prizes and tickets:- Tracey Green 261, cheese and wine basket, D Smith Green 340, grocery set, Elaine Pink 250, Avon set, Viv Leyland Pink 105, Crown Derby, Joan Penfold Pink 578, Monty Don, Mary Simmons White 784, picnic hamper and Bev White 703 bathroom basket. A BIG THANK YOU to our members for their donations and time volunteering at the stall another successful show day.

The WI held an afternoon tea at the Royal Oak Pub on Thursday 10th August to show appreciation to our members and to enhance the resolution passed in June on Alleviating Loneliness. We shared our friendship and enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries and scones, jam and cream plus large quantities of tea were consumed. We have a Facebook page with lots of photos to view of the splendid afternoon.

We meet regularly at the Royal Oak on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 2.30pm; we hold a monthly craft group. If you are interested just turn up with your own projects for an informal get together and enjoy a chat and a cuppa too.

The next members meeting shall be held at the village hall on 7TH September on the “life of a lingerie designer” from 7.30pm.
