Traffic Survey

Published 15 September 2020

The 7.5 tonnes turning ban at the A515/A513 junction is now permanent. On Tues 1st and Weds 2nd September from 7am to 7pm, volunteers monitored to HGV traffic to see how many lorries were breaking the ban. Approximately one HGV per hour broke the ban A515 left onto the A513 and A513 right onto the A515. This is a considerable reduction on what we have previously seen, but the police have been notified of our opinion that it is still not acceptable. Where it was possible to identify the haulier, they were notified and in all cases the relevant Transport Manager apologised and stated that action would be taken.

Residents of the A515 have reported a big increase in HGV traffic at night. We believe that this is due to nighttime A38 diversions, but the situation will continue to be monitored.

A big thank you to all those who gave up their time to conduct this survey.

If any residents observe HGVs breaking the bans please take photos and send them, along with the reg., date and time to alan.how8@btinternet.com
