Notice of planned works

Published 17 December 2022

We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area. In order to reduce the amount of emails you receive we have amalgamated a number of notifications into this one email.
Cappers Lane and Park Lane, Huddlesford

We are constructing haul roads and accesses along the HS2 route. Haul roads are temporary roads provided within a working area to allow for the movement of construction materials, construction machinery and/or construction staff around the site. Haul roads are Balfour Beatty VINCI’s preferred logistical transport link, as they reduce the number of vehicle movements interfering with the existing local road network and provide the greatest possible control over works activity.

To commence building haul roads and accesses in this area we will be undertaking works along Park Lane and Cappers Lane. The works along Park Lane include a utility diversion and installing safety barriers across our excavation. We will follow these works by constructing an access to our working area off Cappers Lane.

We will complete these works from Monday 16 January 2023 to 10 February 2023. To carry out our works safely, we will install phased temporary closures of Park Lane and Cappers Lane, as below:
Park Lane – Monday 16 January to Friday 27 January 2023.
Cappers Lane- Monday 30 January to Friday 10 February 2023.
The temporary closures will be in place from 9:30am to 3:30pm each weekday.

Road closure and traffic management on Watling Street, Hints
To enable the construction of the new railway we will divert utilities on and around Watling Street in Hints. This will firstly require a lane closure followed by a temporary closure of a section of Watling Street.

The works will take place from Wednesday 4 January until Sunday 5 February. To carry out our works safely, we will install a lane closure managed by temporary traffic lights for one week, followed by a road closure for four weeks.
– Temporary traffic lights will be in place from Wednesday 4 January to Sunday 8 January 2023.
– Temporary closure of Watling Street will be in place for four weeks from Monday 9 January to Sunday 5 February 2023.
The traffic lights and road closure will be in place 24 hours a day.
Our working hours will be from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday. Our team may work on weekends, Saturdays 8am until 1pm and Sundays 8am until 6pm (subject to consent).

Notice of overnight surveys on the West Coast Mainline, Handsacre
We are working with Network Rail to plan and deliver preparatory works on the West Coast Mainline. We will be undertaking survey works to gather information on the existing West Coast Mainline and will use a range of tools, survey equipment and lighting.
As this is one of the UK’s busiest rail routes the works will be undertaken overnight each Saturday between 14 January 2023 to 4 March 2023. The works will take place between the hours of 10pm each Saturday night to 9am each Sunday morning.
