Spate of car thefts

Car thieves are becoming more sophisticated and can clone the signal from electronic car keys. Parishioners might consider buying an inexpensive ‘Faraday pouch’ to keep their keys in.

CCTV on Village Hall

The Parish Council has put CCTV cameras all around the Village Hall following a number of incidents. These record activity around the clock and we hope that this will improve security for those that use the hall and car park. Images are saved via the newly installed Village Hall broadband hub. Signs around the Hall advertise the existence of the cameras.

Open Meeting – 1st Feb at 7pm

The Parish Council will hold an open meeting to discuss options for replacing the posts surrounding the war memorial on Wednesday 1st Feb. in the Village Hall at 7pm. Village organisations have been circulated with a letter asking them to consider whether they would consider making a contribution to this. Individual parishioners are also invited so that we can get a consensus view on how to proceed.

National Highways – Work on A38

There will be some upcoming work along the A38 near Fradley. On the night of Thursday 26 January, 9pm to 6am, there will be a full closure of the A38 southbound, between Alrewas and Hilliards Cross, to enable them to carry out essential vegetation clearance.

Kings Bromley Village Hall will be open on a Thursday afternoon on the dates below for anyone to come along and enjoy some company in a warm place.

The Hall will be open from 1-4pm; soup will be offered from 1pm and tea/coffee and cakes from 2pm. There will be no charge – just come along and join in for a chat, do a jigsaw or take part in a game of Bingo!

Car thefts

There has been a national increase in car crime and the council is advising resident to be more vigilant and take extra precautions. With modern technology car thieves have access to software that can scan your cars remote key and capture the code which enables then to take your car when you least expect it. Keep your keys in a ‘Faraday’ style case (inexpensive to purchase off the internet) and away from the house front door. Cases have been reported where homes are broken in to steal the car keys.

Spate of crimes in and around Kings Bromley

The following crimes have been reported to the Parish Council

04/10/22  – Alrewas Road, 4 males tried to steal vehicle, owner disturbed them, and they did not take vehicle she found her vehicle engine was running, they did not have keys. They left in two vehicles police called and negative area search for these two vehicles.

27/10/22  – Theft of fuel and 2 large batteries from digger parked in field side of Yoxall Road just before the bridge. No lines of enquires.

13/11/22  – Beech Ave, vehicle left unlock by owner. She noticed it had been searched next day nothing taken as she did not leave any items of value in vehicle. No CCTV or lines of enquiry.

15/11/22  – The Grange, works van broken into and power tools stolen.  Back door lock broken and metal door cut open. No CCTV or lines of enquiry.

25/11/22  – Leofric Close, Mercedes Benz stolen without keys. No CCTV no lines of enquiry.

25/11/22  – Lanes Close, garage broken into and push bike that was secured to the wall was stolen. Tool that was used by offender was left at scene, this has been taken and we are awaiting forensics results.

During the past two weeks 50 vehicles have been stolen from the Lichfield policing area, we have police patrols out all the time looking for suspicious vehicles and have a team just working and following up on intel we have been gathering.
